Activated carbon is an excellent absorbent that perfectly absorbs unpleasant odours. It is perhaps the most environmentally friendly method for removing pollutants from the air. The advantage of charcoal filters is that they add nothing to the air. Chemicals in the air pass through the filter, are simply retained and accumulate on the surface of the activated carbon.

HEPA filter consists of chaotically arranged fibres. The fibres are typically made of glass fibres and have a diameter of 0.5 to 2.0 micrometres. This allows it to retain fine particles, from 10 microns in size. The HEPA filter is placed in front of the activated carbon filter so that it is not clogged with dust particles and other impurities.
